So we meet again: Together during training camp and reunited Saturday night against the Islanders, Guy Carbonneau made it official during Tuesday"s practice: Christopher Higgins is back playing with Saku Koivu and Alex Tanguay.
“It went really well in camp and when we play together, we’re a fun line,” said Higgins. “There’s still so much I can learn from Saku on the ice and off.”
Up and at ‘em: Three days after a breakout night for his line, Alex Kovalev was still trying to figure out where the wake-up call came from.
“Even if teams are adjusting to our style, we shouldn’t change the way we play. We’re successful when we’re controlling the puck and that’s what we have to keep doing.”
Big night = day off: Not only did Canadiens pick up two important points and improve their record to 8-1-1 on Saturday, but the win likely earned the players an extra day off.
“I’m convinced that had we lost, we would have had to skate on Sunday, so I’m definitely happy!” laughed Higgins. “In this league, it doesn’t matter who you’re playing. If you don’t show up, you’ll be in trouble. At least on Saturday we were able to save ourselves in the third period.”
