MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Monday the signing of forward Andrew Conboy to a three-year contract (2009-10 to 2011-12). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Conboy, the Canadiens’ fifth-round pick, 142nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, registered one point (one assist) and served four penalty minutes in seven games this season with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound left-winger started the 2008-09 campaign as a freshman with the NCAA Michigan State University Spartans, scoring five points (3 goals, 2 assists) with 76 penalty minutes in 21 games.

From 2006-2008, Conboy amassed 88 points (42 goals, 46 passes) in 114 games with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers. In 2007-08, the 20-year-old from Bursnville, Minnesota, led the Lancers to the Clark Cup Championship with a league-high nine goals in 14 playoff games.
