MONTREAL – The Canadiens announced today that defenseman Alex Henry
has been recalled from the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.
Henry has amassed eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 47 games with the Bulldogs this season. The 29-year-old also has a plus-9 rating with 70 penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder amassed 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) and served 142 penalty minutes in 80 games as captain of the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals.
Before joining the Canadiens as a free agent on July 3, 2008, the Elliot Lake, Ontario native played 175 games in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, the Washington Capitals and the Minnesota Wild. He registered 11 points and 259 penalty minutes.
Henry was drafted in the third round, 67th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 1998.
