MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Wednesday that center Mikhail Grabovski has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Grabovski, 22, a native of Potsdam, East Germany, was recalled by the Canadiens on Friday January 5 and took part in three games with the team, collecting no point. He totaled five shots on goal. He played his first NHL game on Saturday January 6 against the New York Rangers, at the Bell Centre.
Playing in his first full season in the American Hockey League, Grabovski, a 5-foot-11, 183-pound forward, has scored 10 goals and added 18 assists (10-18-28) in 35 games, with a plus-6 plus/minus rating. At the time of his call-up, he was in third place among team scorers.
Grabovski, the Canadiens' fourth round pick (150th overall) in 2004, should be back into action on Thursday, January 11 when the Bulldogs face the Manitoba Moose, in Winnipeg.
