Game Preview: Canadiens vs. Sharks

TV: RDS, SNE 10:30 p.m.

The Canadiens return to action on Monday night in San Jose, just a few short hours after the 2016 trade deadline.

On Saturday night at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens extended their point streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs. Captain Max Pacioretty found the back of the net twice, while Alex Galchenyuk and Devante Smith-Pelly also added their names to the scoring sheet.

In the Sharks camp, captain Joe Pavelski lit the lamp and added an assist after firing seven shots on Vancouver Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller in Sunday night’s 4-1 victory. In addition, Sharks goaltender Martin Jones turned aside 20 of the 21 shots he faced to earn his 30th win of the season. Jones is confirmed to get the start on Monday night against the Canadiens.

Mike Condon is expected to get the nod again for the Canadiens after turning in another stellar performance on Saturday night against the Maple Leafs. The Habs rookie netminder has never started a game against the San Jose Sharks in his career.

Monday night’s contest marks the last time the two teams meet this season, with the Sharks holding a 1-0 edge in the season series thus far.
