The Canadiens play the first of two preseason games against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Habs defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 to pick up their first win of the preseason schedule. Nathan Beaulieu and Greg Pateryn led the way with four- and three-point nights, respectively, with Beaulieu notably finding the back of the net in the opening frame. Alexander Radulov, Paul Byron, and Torrey Mitchell - twice - were the other Canadiens goalscorers. Al Montoya and Zachary Fucale shared the work between the pipes, allowing one goal each.

A couple of familiar faces will be back in the lineup for the first time this preseason on Thursday, following the return of Max Pacioretty and Tomas Plekanec from the World Cup of Hockey. Mikhail Sergachev will also be in uniform after practicing with his teammates for the last two days.

Michel Therrien will once again give the start to Mike Condon in goal, who played the first half of Monday's game against the Devils.

For his part, Andrew Shaw will not be in the Canadiens' lineup on Thursday night after being suspended for three preseason games for an illegal hit on Tuesday night against the Capitals.

The Senators will be entering a third preseason game with a 1-0-1 record. Ottawa head coach Guy Boucher will ice a lineup including veterans Kyle Turris, Bobby Ryan, Derick Brassard and Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Chris Driedger and Matt O'Connor will be the Sens goaltenders.

Following Thursday's contest, Montreal and Ottawa will meet again on Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre.
