Game Preview: Canadiens vs. Flyers
TV: RDS, SNE, NHLN-US 7:30 p.m.
Following a three-game road trip, the Habs return home to Montreal where a match-up against the Philadelphia Flyers awaits them on Friday night at the Bell Centre.
In the Habs last contest on Wednesday night in Colorado, a late third period goal by Jarome Iginla broke a 2-2 tie and the Avalanche came away with an important two points in the standings. Coach Michel Therrien’s newly formed trio of Lars Eller, Max Pacioretty and Sven Andrighetto combined forces to score the Canadiens’ second goal of the game.
After Friday morning's practice in Brossard, the club confirmed that Mike Condon will get the start between the pipes. Though Jeff Petry skated with his teammates Friday morning, the rearguard is not ready to return to the lineup as of yet.
In the Flyers’ camp, the club heads to Montreal presently sitting just four points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, after leaving New Jersey on Tuesday night with a 6-3 win. Seemingly nothing can cool down defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere’s hot streak as the rookie extended his point streak to 13 games with a goal against the Devils on Tuesday night.
Friday night’s contest comes with just two points separating the two combatants in the Eastern Conference standings. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
