CANADIENS (24-21-4) vs FLYERS (21-18-8)
TV: RDS, SNE 7:00 p.m.
Following a short All-Star break, the Canadiens return to action against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
In their last contest before the break the Canadiens suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Devante Smith-Pelly and Alex Galchenyuk found the back of the net for the Habs, while All-Star defenseman P.K. Subban registered two assists.
The Flyers on the other hand entered the break with a 4-3 victory over the Eastern Conference leading Washington Capitals. Tied after regulation, Jakub Voracek’s second goal of the game would come just 00:38 seconds into overtime to give the Flyers the extra point.
Mike Condon will get the nod in goal for the Canadiens. The rookie netminder has yet to face the Flyers in his career, as Ben Scrivens started the Habs previous match-up against Philadelphia earlier this year. Condon heads into Tuesday night’s contest with a 13-13-4 record complimented by a goals against average of 2.45 and a save percentage of .904
In addition, Therrien confirmed that Tom Gilbert will make his return to the lineup since suffering a lower-body injury on December 22 against the Minnesota Wild. At Tuesday's morning skate Gilbert lined-up alongside Mark Barberio, as the two could be paired together against the Flyers.
Recent call-up Lucas Lessio will suit up for his first career game in a Canadiens uniform after being called up to the team on January 31. Lessio rotated on a line with Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn while sporting his new number '53'.
After Tuesday night’s contest, the Canadiens and Flyers will meet for a third and final time this season on February 19 back at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
