TV: RDS, SNE 7:00 p.m.
Kicking off their second back-to-back, home-and-away series of the season, the Habs are set to square off against the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Monday night.
In their most recent matchup on Saturday night, the Habs picked up a much needed victory to put an end to five-game losing streak. David Desharnais opened up the scoring just 1:41 into the first period before Tomas Fleischmann added his ninth of the season to put the Habs up by two. Though a second half comeback by the Leafs would extend the game into overtime, a shootout goal by Lars Eller gave the Canadiens a 3-2 win.
Similarly, the Blue Jackets also had their Saturday night contest extended into overtime, before ultimately falling 3-2 to the Boston Bruins in a shootout. Dalton Prout chipped in his first goal of the season, while Kerby Rychel scored his second of the season in the loss. Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo made 32 saves in his second consecutive appearance in relief of Sergei Bobrovsky who is nursing a lower-body injury.
On the injury front, defenseman Tom Gilbert travelled with the team to Columbus and is nearing his return to the lineup.
In addition, coach Michel Therrien confirmed that Mike Condon will get the start against Columbus on Monday night after his standout performance in the shootout victory over the Maple Leafs. The rookie netminder kicked aside 22 of the 23 shots he faced in his first and only career start against the Blue Jackets, a 2-1 Habs victory on December 1.
Following Monday night’s contest, the two teams will head back to Montreal where they will clash at the Bell Centre just 24 hours later.
