TV: RDS, SN 8:00 p.m.
The Canadiens close out their road-trip with a Wednesday night match-up against Patrick Roy and the Colorado Avalanche.
In Glendale on Monday night, the Coyotes took control of a close game in the opening period after Anthony Duclair scored late in the frame to give the team a 2-1 lead. In the end, Martin Hanzal’s three-point night would help guide the Coyotes to a 6-2 victory.
At Tuesday afternoon’s practice, forward David Desharnais was absent due to a lower-body injury. As a result, Lars Eller slotted in between captain Max Pacioretty and Sven Adrighetto. In addition, coach Michel Therrien confirmed that Ben Scrivens will be back between the pipes, marking his ninth start with the Canadiens.
In addition, forwards Devante Smith-Pelly and Lucas Lessio will make their respective returns to the lineup replacing Desharnais (lower-body) and Tomas Fleischmann (healthy).
In the Avalanche camp, Patrick Roy’s troops followed up back-to-back victories over the Senators and Red Wings with a 4-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov surrendered two goals on the first two shots he faced before being replaced by Calvin Pickard. On Wednesday, the club confirmed that Varlamov will be back in the blue paint against the Canadiens.
Wednesday night’s contest marks the last time the two teams will face-off this season, as the Avalanche left the Bell Centre with two points after taking the first game of the season series back on November 14, 2015.
