CANADIENS (16-7-2) @ AVALANCHE (9-10-5)
The Canadiens open a four-game western road swing on Monday in Denver against the Avalanche.
After coming away with just a single point over a pair of weekend games opposite the Buffalo Sabres, the Habs will be looking to get off on the right foot in the Mile-High City. The Avs have had a slow start to the season -- currently sitting last in the Pacific Division -- but are coming off a convincing 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday, scoring two power play goals while firing 47 shots at Swedish netminder Anders Lindback.
Tyson Barrie will be a player to watch in Colorado, as the 23-year-old defenseman is currently enjoying an offensive streak with one goal and four assists in his last five games. A healthy scratch through parts of November meanwhile, former Habs forward Daniel Briere is back in the Colorado lineup, and has also scored three goals over a five game span.
Carey Price should get the call between the pipes for the Canadiens on Monday, marking the Anahim Lake, B.C. native's 20th start of the season. On the other side of the ice, starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov has missed the last five games with a groin injury. New Brunswick native Calvin Pickard will fill in for Varlamov once again on Monday, after also handling netminding duties on Wednesday and Saturday.
The Habs will be looking to sweep the season series at the Pepsi Center after besting the Avalanche 3-2 at the Bell Centre on October 18.
Note that puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. E.T.
