MONTREAL – For the Canadiens organization, the focus of the day was hitting the greens for a good cause.
Members of the Habs alumni and management were on hand to take to the links Wednesday for the team’s annual golf tournament held to benefit the Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
Despite the bright sun and blue skies over the Royal Montreal Golf Club, novice golfers hoping to improve their game didn’t get much of a break from the elements as the chilly September air and stiff fall breeze did little to help players already grappling with a slice. Traditionally one of the Habs’ most successful fundraising events of the year, attendees got the chance to tee off alongside members of the Canadiens coaching staff, not to mention the likes of Henri Richard, Guy Carbonneau, Yvan Cournoyer, Mathieu Dandeneault, Dickie Moore and Réjean Houle.
Wednesday’s outing marked the 12th edition of the tournament since the Foundation was created back in 2000. Since becoming the main beneficiary of the event, the Foundation has raised over four million dollars from the tournament held every year at golf courses in and around Montreal. This year alone, the event raised $454,650.
