Free agency update: Hurricanes intend to match Aho offer sheet

The Canadiens tendered the offer sheet to the 21-year-old restricted free agent forward on Monday afternoon

MONTREAL - After the Canadiens tendered an offer sheet to restricted free agent forward Sebastian Aho, the Carolina Hurricanes announced on Tuesday their intention to match Montreal's offer.

The proposed offer was for five years with an average annual value of $8.454 million.
Had Aho joined the Club, the Canadiens would have compensated the Hurricanes with a first-round, second-round, and a third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
The Hurricanes had seven days to match the Canadiens' offer.
