The Czech Republic defeated Slovenia 5-1 in preliminary round action at the World Hockey Championship in Paris on Friday.
After Michal Repik opened the scoring for the Czechs, Roman Horak scored twice - still in the first period - while Michal Kempny and Roman Cervenka completed the scoring for the winning side. Petr Mrazek turned away 14 shots in the victory.
Tomas Plekanec was held scoreless in the win, registered an even differential and took one shot in 16:23 of game action. Jakub Jerabek was also held off the scoresheet in 18:19 of time on the ice.
The Czech Republic is off on Saturday before resuming action Sunday against the tournament hosts, France.
