MONTREAL -- Forward Filip Mesar will represent Slovakia at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship later this month.

The news was confirmed by Slovak Ice Hockey Federation President Miroslav Satan on Thursday.
Mesar, 18, is enjoying a productive season with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers. He has 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 15 games.
The Kezmarok, Slovakia native, who also appeared in one game with the AHL's Laval Rocket, was a first-round selection (26th overall) in July.

Fellow Habs prospects Owen Beck (CAN), Adam Engstrom (SWE), Lane Hutson (USA), Riley Kidney (CAN), Vinzenz Rohrer (AUT) and Joshua Roy (CAN) were previously named to preliminary rosters for their respective countries.
The tournament will be held in Halifax, NS and Moncton, NB from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.
