Facial accoutrements - Jarred Tinordi

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

The playoffs. Warm weather, killer plays, bitter rivalries and of course, the best beards you’ll see all year. Check out what Jarred Tinordi had to say on the subject and learn all about his ideal playoff beard.

Who has the best playoff beard in hockey?

In all of hockey? I’d have to go with Lanny McDonald, for sure! I remember watching him play. I’d also say that Mike Commodore is up there. His beard was really thick.

Jarred Tinordi and the "Mutton-Chops".

Who has the best playoff beard in all of sport?

I don’t know…I’d say that I’d have to focus on hockey players because they let their beards grow the longest. I don’t really know the other sports where players sport playoff beards.

What type of beard would you like to grow?

I think I’d have to go with « Mutton-Chops. » (a big-time favorite that goes down to your chin). I’d leave a space in between the two. And, I’d have a mustache to link it all together, that’s for sure.

How much time do you believe it will take before you have a playoff beard that's worthy of that name?

I grew one last year for the OHL playoffs and for the Memorial Cup. It took a few months before it looked good. In the end, my mustache hung well below my lips. It doesn’t really grow in thick, but it gets really long. It would take a few months.

Who do you think will have the best playoff beard?

I think it will be Brandon Prust. He’s got a dark beard. I’ll have to wait a while before making up my mind on that one because I haven’t really had time to see the guys let their mustaches grow.
