by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Czech Republic vs. Kazakhstan

Tomas Plekanec lit the lamp in the first period to open the scoring between the Czech Republic and Kazakstan on Friday. Clinging to a one-goal lead in the third period, the Czech captain netted the insurance marker for his second goal of the game to give his team a 3-1 victory.

USA vs. Hungary

Mike Condon was given the day off on Friday after his 19-save shutout performance over France. With Condon getting some much deserved rest, the USA skated to a 5-1 win thanks to a three point game from Nick Foligno.

Denmark vs. Latvia

Friday's contest between Denmark and Latvia required a shootout to settle the score. Up first for Denmark was none other than the Habs very own Lars Eller, who found the back of the net to help lift Denmark to a 3-2 shootout win.
