MONTREAL - Four months after being named the NCAA's top hockey player, Cole Caufield was finally handed the prestigious award on Wednesday night at a ceremony in Lake Elmo, MN.

Surrounded by his family, the young forward said a few words to reflect on an emotional year, but one full of success.

"As you're in the moment you kind of didn't really get to accept or understand or appreciate the success that I did have," he admitted at the banquet. "Obviously, this is the time now to really appreciate that you earned it. I'm always going to remember this day and it'll for sure be one of the best days of my life, this year especially."
