by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Carey Price find himself on a list of the first 16 players named to Team Canada for the World Cup of Hockey in September. The initial list was revealed on Wednesday. You’ll recall that Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is a member of the Canadian management group for the competition.

Price led Canada to a gold medal triumph at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and earned tournament MVP honors after posting a 5-0-0 record, a 0.59 goals-against average and two shutouts along the way. The 28-year-old netminder will be making his first appearance in the World Cup of Hockey. He also claimed gold at the World Junior Hockey Championship in 2007.
