Carey Price named the Canadiens' 2019-20 Molson Cup player of the year

The Habs goaltender claims the trophy for the ninth time in his career

MONTREAL - Goaltender Carey Price is the Montreal Canadiens' Molson Cup Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season. He wins the award for the ninth time in his career, having been the monthly winner in November, December and January, as well as ranking second in February.

The Anahim Lake, BC native finished the regular season ahead of teammates Brendan Gallagher and Nick Suzuki in the Molson Cup standings.

In 58 games this season, Price maintained a 27-25-6 record, with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. He led all league netminders in minutes played (3439:49) for a second consecutive season. He ranked first in the NHL in games played (tied with C. Hellebuyck) as well as fifth in wins. Price recorded his 47th career NHL shutout on February 1 against Florida, passing Ken Dryden to take sole possession of third place in team history in that category.

Price earned the Molson Cup for a second season in a row. He was also the winner in 2008-09, as well as from 2010-11 to 2014-15. The 32-year-old netminder is now two wins away from his 350th in career with the Canadiens, a category he already leads.

In 2019-20, the Molson Cup scoring system awards three points for a first star selection, two points for a second star selection and a single point for a third star selection.
