The 11 players selected by the Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft held on July 7 and 8 in Montreal will be among the participants, including both first-round selections, Juraj Slafkovsky and Filip Mesar.
The list of players invited to the development camp includes 28 prospects drafted by the Canadiens organization, two players acquired through free agency, three via a transaction, and seven players invited on a try-out basis.
Players will be divided into two groups. The first on-ice practice session will be on Monday, July 11 at 12:15 p.m. on both ice surfaces of the Bell Sports Complex. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.
This year, the organization has invited guest coach Charly Washipabano to its development camp. Washipabano, the Director of the Cree Nation Bears program, is a coach from the Cree First Nations community in Northern Quebec and certifies all the coaches in the North of Quebec. He will accompany the coaches on the ice during the sessions.
The Canadiens have also invited coaches Kirk MacDonald (USHL - Dubuque) and Simon Ferguson (BCHL - West Kelowna) to participate in the development camp as instructors.
Seminars covering topics such as sports psychology, sports science and fitness are on tap for players invited to camp. Former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy has also been invited to speak to the players as part of the Respect and Consent program. Former NHL defenseman Bruno Gervais will accompany him in his presentation.
Players participating in the on-ice practices will be available to the media every day following the sessions.
