MONTREAL - The Canadiens released Friday the schedule of the 2005-06 training camp, which starts on Tuesday, Sept. 13. To celebrate the return of NHL hockey, several on-ice sessions will be opened to the public during the Canadiens training camp. An outdoor jamboree featuring activities with players and fans is also scheduled.
Players will report for physical and medical exams at the Bell Centre on Sept. 13. The first on-ice sessions will run from Sept. 14-17 at the Sportsplexe 4 Glaces, in Pierrefonds. The training camp will run through October 4 with practices at the Bell Centre and the Verdun Auditorium. From Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, the Canadiens training camp will move to the St-Jovite Arena in Mont-Tremblant.
Practices opened to public
For a fifth consecutive season, the Canadiens will open their training camp to the general public, with a significant portion of the practice sessions accessible. Canadiens fans will have the opportunity to attend the Canadiens practice sessions free of charge, from Sept. 14-17 in Pierrefonds, as well as the three-day stay in St-Jovite. Also this year, all practice sessions at the Bell Centre on game day during preseason will be opened to the public (Sept. 18, 20, 24, 27 and Oct. 2). Access to the building for these practices will be through the main entrance located on De La Gauchetire street.
Jamboree for Canadiens fans
On Sunday Sept. 18, the Canadiens invite all their fans to take part in the third edition of the Jamboree, at the outside terrace of the Bell Centre. Activities will begin with the Canadiens' open practice at the Bell Centre at 9:00 a.m. Also featured during the day: street hockey games featuring Canadiens players and Alumni, photo and autograph sessions and giveaway prizes, including tickets for the Canadiens' preseason game the same night against the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Canadiens will play five of their eight preseason games at the Bell Centre; Sept. 18 vs. Atlanta, Sept. 20 vs. Tampa Bay, Sept. 24 vs. Toronto, Sept. 27 vs. Boston and Oct. 2 vs. Ottawa. Tickets for Canadiens individual games in the regular season will go on sale on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Hamilton Bulldogs, the Canadiens' minor league affiliate, will begin their training camp in Caledonia, Ontario on Sept. 23.
