MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the team has agreed to terms on a seven-year contract extension with forward Josh Anderson (until the end of the 2026-27 season). The deal has an average annual value of $5.5 million.

Anderson, 26, collected four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 26 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2019-20 in addition of serving 17 penalty minutes. The right-handed forward sustained a shoulder injury on December 14, 2019 which ended his season. Anderson amassed 65 goals and 50 assists in 267 NHL career games with Columbus.
The 6'3'' and 222 lbs right-winger had his best season in the NHL in 2017-18 when he tallied 27 goals and 47 points in 82 games. Anderson also produced three goals and five assists in 21 NHL career playoff games.
Anderson was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this week in exchange for forward Max Domi and a draft pick.
