MONTREAL - The Canadiens signed defenseman Cody Goloubef to a professional tryout contract on Monday.

He will join the team when training camp opens on Wednesday.
Goloubef, 31, spent last season with the AHL's Belleville Senators, registering six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in 31 games.

The University of Wisconsin product has 25 points (3 goals, 22 assists) in 160 career NHL games with Columbus, Colorado, Ottawa and Detroit.
The Mississauga, ON native was a second-round pick of the Blue Jackets (37th overall) in 2008.
