MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the team has placed Karl Alzner on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out the remaining two years of his contract.

Alzner has played 95 games with the Canadiens since joining the organization in July 2017. The left-handed rearguard produced one goal and 13 points with Montreal, in addition to serving 42 penalty minutes.
Alzner also skated in 87 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL, registering 19 points (2 goals, 17 assists) and posting a +6 differential.
