BROSSARD - The Canadiens invited defenseman Eric Gelinas to take part in their training camp (professional tryout) on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Franco-Ontarian split his time between the NHL and the AHL last season, with the Colorado Avalanche (one assist in 27 games) and their minor-league affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage (three goals and nine assists in 27 games).

Gelinas has played 189 career NHL games with the Avalanche and New Jersey Devils, amassing 14 goals for 55 points.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound rearguard was the Devils' third-round selection (54th overall) in 2009.
