MONTREAL – With Christmas just around the corner, the Montreal Canadiens will once again participate in their traditional community initiatives.
Annual Children’s Hospitals Visit For a 44th consecutive year, the Canadiens’ organization will visit young patients at both the Sainte-Justine and Montreal Children’s Hospitals on Wednesday December 3. Players will meet with children in their rooms and offer each child a gift. Visits will begin at 2:00 p.m. in both hospitals as the team will be divided in two groups to give as many children as possible the opportunity to share some memorable moments with their idols.
Canadiens’ Food Drive in support of the Media’s Big Food Drive On Thursday December 4, the Canadiens will hold a food drive in support of the Media’s Big Food Drive. Fans attending the game against the New York Rangers are invited to bring non-perishable food items as the players’ wives and volunteers from Harvest Montreal, Sun Youth and La Société Saint-Vincent-de-Paul will collect donations at the various entrances of the Bell Centre. Earlier in the day, the Canadiens’ Réjean Houle, Yvon Lambert and team mascot Youppi! will join sports personalities from RDS, collecting donations at the corner of René-Lévesque and Papineau.
Habs Wives Christmas In the spirit of the Holidays, the players’ wives generously support the initiative of Mr. Normand Brault, a psycho-educator working with Youth Centres, by granting the wish of a number of children who may not be on Santa’s list. On Thursday December 18, they will wrap the gifts they have purchased for the children prior to the game between the Canadiens and the Flyers.
The Canadiens in the community Throughout the year, the Canadiens’ Community Relations Department organizes over a dozen events for hockey fans and charitable organizations. The Montreal Canadiens are proud to contribute to Montreal and Quebec’s heritage, not only through their on-ice accomplishments, but also with their commitment to the community.
