Jaroslav Halak earned AHL Goaltender of the Month honors back in November.

MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Thursday that goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Halak, 21, has played in 28 games with the Bulldogs so far this season, posting a 16-11-0 record, a 2.00 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage (54 goals allowed, 742 saves).

The Bratislava, Slovakia native leads the American Hockey League in goals-against average and shares first place with the Manchester Monarchs' Jason LaBarbera in shutouts, with six. He also holds second place in the AHL in save percentage.

Halak, who has yet to play a game in the National Hockey League, was the Canadiens' 11th pick (ninth round - 271st overall) in 2003.
