Canadiens assign Jesperi Kotkaniemi to Laval

The Finnish forward has six goals and eight points in 36 games this season

MONTREAL - The Canadiens assigned forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi to the AHL's Laval Rocket on Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old Finn has appeared in 36 games this season, scoring six goals and collecting eight points.
Kotkaniemi debuted with Montreal last year, cracking the roster straight out of training camp after being selected third overall in the 2018 NHL Draft.
He boasts 17 goals and 42 points in 115 career NHL games, along with 49 penalty minutes.
Kotkaniemi suffered a concussion in early December that forced him to miss eight games.
The Pori native was a healthy scratch for Thursday night's contest in Buffalo.
