MONTREAL (March 25, 2020) - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract (2020-21) with defenseman Gustav Olofsson.

The contract will pay Olofsson $750,000 in the NHL and $250,000 in the AHL, with a $350,000 guaranteed salary.
The 6'3'' and 196 lbs defenseman played 59 games with the Laval Rocket in 2019-20, recording 17 points (1 goal, 16 assists) and serving 18 penalty minutes. Olofsson also played three games with the Canadiens this season.
Olofsson, 25, has played 59 career games in the NHL with Montreal and Minnesota since making his debut in 2015-16, collecting 11 assists. Since starting in the AHL in 2013-14, the Swedish blue-liner has registered 59 points (10 goals, 49 assists) in 179 games with the Rocket and Iowa Wild.
Selected in the second round by the Wild (46th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Olofsson helped Sweden earn a silver medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
