MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Wednesday that the team has traded forward Cam Hillis to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Nicolas Beaudin.

Beaudin, a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman, played 22 career games in the NHL with Chicago. The Chateauguay, QC native tallied two goals, four assists and served two penalty minutes. The 5'11'', 168 lbs rearguard, who was selected in the first round by the Blackhawks in 2018 (27th overall), also registered seven goals and 35 assists in 137 career games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs.
Hillis was selected in the third round by the Canadiens in 2018 (66th overall). The Oshawa, ON native played one game in the NHL with Montreal in 2021-22. The 22-year-old centerman skated in 42 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL from 2020 to 2022, tallying 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists). Hillis also played with the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the ECHL the past two seasons where he amassed five goals and six assists in 17 games.
