Max Domi Michael McCarron

MONTREAL - When Max Domi and Michael McCarron were teammates on the OHL's London Knights in 2013-14 and 2014-15, Domi drove the pair to and from the rink - and controlled the music, too.

That was no issue for McCarron, who enjoyed the tracks his winger cued up.
"Back then, he used to always play techno and house music and stuff like that. He had some good taste," shared McCarron. "He always picked the music. He actually ran the music in the room as well when I played there. He was a music man. He's got it all!"
Auditory preferences aside, McCarron is uniquely qualified to assess the Habs' new acquisition, as he was Domi's center before getting traded to the Oshawa Generals midway through the 2014-15 campaign.
"We had a heck of a year when we were together. I got traded right around Christmas time," recalled McCarron, who posted 41 points (22G, 19A) in 25 games that season with London before getting dealt. "We lit it up, we had some fun, and we definitely helped each other out and had some good chemistry."
For his part, Domi was one of nine players to crack the 100-point plateau in 2014-15, having registered 32 goals and 70 assists before the Knights fell to the Erie Otters in the second round of the OHL playoffs that spring.
As McCarron remembers it, Domi was nothing but a positive force as a teammate, both on and off the ice.
"He leads by example. He has Type 1 diabetes, and he takes care of his body really well. He's a great teammate. He's a professional. Everybody loves him; I don't think I've ever heard any of his teammates ever say a bad thing about him," praised McCarron. "He's a great player. He's quick out there, he has good hands, he has a great shot, and he can see the ice really well. I think he's going to do well for us. I'm really happy to be back with him."
After Domi joined the Canadiens on Friday, he got in touch with his old buddy to express his enthusiasm about his new hockey home.
"He's excited, he's ready to go. He texted me, asking some questions about how it is," added McCarron. "He's excited, I'm excited, and I'm sure everybody else in the organization is as well."
So, what kinds of things did McCarron tell Domi about playing for the Habs?
"I said it's fun, that it's good when you're doing well. I told him the Bell Centre is really loud, the fans are the best fans in the League, all the boys on the team are good - good leaders. [...] We have a good group," he concluded. "That's what I was telling him, and he was really excited to come out."
