A blankie for Gaby

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL -- On January 6 and 7 2007, the Montreal Canadiens will be collecting new blankets for the children of Leucan. The blankets will go to the children undergoing chemotherapy treatments at CHU Sainte-Justine, the Montreal Children's Hospital, CHUS Sherbrooke and Centre mère-enfant de Québec (CHUQ).

Fans will be invited to donate blankets at the Bell Centre at all main entrances (De La Gauchetière, Lucien-L'Allier, Windsor Station or Suite entrance) from the opening of the doors until the beginning of the match.

"As part of our welcoming program, each family whose child has been diagnosed with cancer receives a kit.  The families are always pleasantly surprised to see that the kit includes a blanket, which provides warmth and comfort for their sick child.  Later, I regularly see these children in the hospitals, wrapped up in their colorful blankets, as they go around from floor to floor, or at other clinics as they wait to go for their treatments."
