The Canadiens' top line led the way up front in a convincing 8-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins' young guns on Friday afternoon in the 2016 Rookie Tournament opener at Budweiser Gardens in London, ON.

Michael McCarron (2G-1A), Nikita Scherbak (1G-2A) and Artturi Lehkonen (2A) combined to register eight points while giving the Penguins' defenders fits time and again all game long. Noah Juulsen (1G-2A), Ryan Johnston (2G) and Jeremiah Addison(1G-1A) also posted multi-point games.

Charlie Lindgren was between the pipes for the Canadiens. After surrendering a goal on the first shot of the contest just 21 seconds into the first period, the Lakeville, MN native turned aside the 14 other shots the Penguins fired in his direction during the remainder of the frame.

The Habs got things going in the second period after Johnston found the back of the net at the five-minute mark on a one-timer. Then, it was Tom Parisi's turn to light the lamp less than a minute later before McCarron put the Canadiens up 3-1. Johnston's second tally of the contest made it 4-1.

The Canadiens added four more goals in the third period, including an incredible individual effort by Nikita Scherbak to cap the scoring in which the Russian winger turned a Penguins defenseman inside out before putting the puck home.
