2016 Michel Therrien Golf Invitational

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

- The Michel Therrien Golf Invitational was held at Le Mirage Golf Club in Terrebonne on Tuesday. Unlike last year when the course was unplayable due to poor weather conditions, this time around the weather was absolutely perfect. Forty-one celebrities – including Canadiens players, members of the coaching staff, and players and staff members from other NHL teams – were all on site. A total of 280 golfers participated in the event.

- Several players met with members of the media for the first time all summer. Captain Max Pacioretty talked about the arrival of Shea Weber, specifically his leadership abilities. Before being traded to the Canadiens, Weber had served as captain of the Nashville Predators for the last six years.

- For his part, Weber made his first public appearance since joining the CH. The veteran defenseman made his way to the golf course with Pacioretty, before being presented to the media alongside the Canadiens’ No. 67, Therrien, and Geoff Molson, too.

- Nathan Beaulieu discussed the support and knowledge a veteran like Weber can offer a young gun like him, while Andrew Shaw expressed his excitement for the upcoming season in his new hockey home.

- This year marks the fourth edition of the Michen Therrien Golf Invitational. In 2015, the tournament raised over $225,000 for the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
