Words from Wideman

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins

Defenseman, Dennis Wideman
On being traded to the Bruins:
I’m definitely very excited. It’s an original six team, and I grew up watching those teams play. I’ve been in the city before. I played in Worcester for a year [during the lockout]. So I was in Boston a few times, it’s a great city. I’m a big Red Sox fan so I’m excited to be there and I’m excited to help the Bruins.

On his strengths:
The strength of my game is moving the puck. I’ll help out on the power play as much as I can, making a good first pass, getting plays, getting the ice, and getting the puck moving.

On whether he had any indication of the impending trade:
I had no idea. This was a total surprise for me. I woke up from my nap before the game tonight and saw that I had about ten or twelve phone calls, including one from our GM. So I knew something was up.

On players he knows in the Bruins organization:
No, actually the only player I knew from playing against and would know to talk to was Brad Boyes, so I guess I won’t be talking to him. That’s the only player I think I know.
