September 10 - Boston Bruins Golf Tournament

BOSTON BRUINS FORWARD DAVID KREJCI

On how his summer was…
It was great. It was a little long but I’m ready for the season to start.

On if he thinks the season will happen…
I hope so but it’s a long year. I could have stayed in the Czech Republic to wait for it, but I’m preparing myself for the season like it’s going to start on time. So I know they don’t have much time left, but I really hope they’re going to get it done.

On how long he’s been back in the United States…
I just got back yesterday.

On if he’s looked into other options in the event of a work stoppage…
Yeah obviously people in the Czech Republic talk about it a lot. A few teams contacted me back home but I didn’t make any decisions. I really hope the NHL is going to start really soon so once something happens I would have to look for something, but I don’t have one team if the lockout were to happen.

On if he would sign with a Czech team or a different team in the event of a work stoppage…
It would be a Czech team. That’s where I’m from, that’s my home so it would be a Czech team. But I’m here you know so I really hope it’s going to start, the NHL, and it was a long summer so I kind of miss hockey. In the Czech Republic the season has started already so I’ve watched some games already, so I really miss it.

On what the conversations are like with teammates about a potential work stoppage…
I don’t know. I don’t want to really say something for it not happening. Mostly players want to get a deal done, just like the owners, but we’ll see what’s going to happen, at least they’ve got a few days. So I don’t have much for you.

On if he’s motivated after watching the Kings win the Stanley Cup…
Yeah obviously you watch the Stanley Cup playoffs and you’re not in it, it’s really hard to watch. You could have been there if you did a little thing differently and it could have been you, just like it happened to years ago. But because of that, we had a long summer; we had lots of time to think about stuff. Now we’re back here, like I said I got here yesterday so I didn’t meet all the guys yet, I just saw a few. So I’m excited to meet them all and get everything going again.

On if he got a chance to attend the labor meetings in Europe…
No. I just took time off. I wanted to wait for a couple of months and just relax and enjoy the summer.

On if his body physically feels better than at a year ago this time…
Yeah, I’m feeling in pretty good shape. But I don’t want to talk about it, that I’m in the best shape ever. I just want to go on the ice and show everybody how I worked hard in the summer and what I can do. So let’s leave it on the ice.

On if he pays attention to trade rumors involving him…
Mostly I heard, even if I don’t read the papers, people tell me about it. But I don’t pay too much attention. At the end of the season we had meetings with Coach [Julien], with Peter [Chiarelli], so I know what those guys think about me, so I knew that they want me here, so I didn’t really pay too much attention to it.

On if he uses trade rumors as motivation…
Yeah, I did. I did, I worked hard this summer, and I can’t wait for hockey to start again, so I can show everybody on the ice.

On if he’s going to be working out with his teammates this week on the ice..
Yeah I talked to some guys already and they said we’ll practice somewhere else, so I’m going to try to go on the ice with them tomorrow and today I’m going to be with the guys, and we’ll go from there.

On how he wants to improve personally this season…
Honestly, the season is long. Ups and downs are going to happen, but I’m going to try to have a good start, compared to last year I had a bad start, but I want to have a good start. Really, really focus on that. And what happens after that happens. If you don’t have a good start, go into every game, and leave everything out there, and I’m sure I’ll do it even if I have a bad game, leave everything out there, and there won’t be any regrets and the next game is going to turn around and I’m going to have luck on my side. Stay positive, and have a good start, that’s what I’m going for.

On if he focused this summer on getting off to a better start…
No, my focus was just train. It’s hard to focus on just a few games from the start. You have to train your body for beginning, middle, and end of the season, it’s very important. You don’t just want to do some crazy things and then in the middle of the season your body shuts down. So I tried to work out a long time in the day, mix it up a little bit - I talked to a few people. So my energy level can stay the same the whole year.

On his excitement for the return of teammate Nathan Horton
Yeah, I heard about it, I’ve talked to him over the summer, so I’m excited to get back. I don’t know what the coaches’ plans are, if I’m going to play with Looch [Milan Lucic] and Nathan, I would hope so, but yeah, I’m really excited. We had so much fun, we like each other, and he’s just a great, great player so I’m looking forward to it.
