Acceptance speech on the Encore Theater stage at the Wynn Las Vegas…
Congratulations to David [Backes] and Pavel [Datsyuk] on great seasons. Hockey’s such a team sport that I have to thank all my teammates for this award right now. They’re the reason why I’m here and thanks for making my job easy. Also, thank you to Mr. Jeremy and Charlie Jacobs, Peter Chiarelli, Cam Neely, all the coaches, the trainers, everyone in Boston - thank you. Kent Hughes, my agent, and, last but not least, my family. Thanks to my parents, my brother, and my girlfriend here tonight. Thanks for always being here for me and believing in me and supporting me so thank you very much. Everyone at home in Quebec watching- merci beaucoup.

On how it felt to hear his name called…
Yeah, it felt pretty special actually. It’s a huge honor, like I said, just to be nominated, and now to actually win it is something very special. Just looking at some names right now, and it’s very humbling to be with them.

On what went through his mind when he was first nominated…
Honestly, I didn’t really worry about it or think about it until today, just because I had to prepare a speech and I don’t really like them so that’s the only reason why. But otherwise, I was just, like I said, honored and I have to give all the credit to my teammates and they’re the reason why I’m here and making me a better player.

On whether the individual honor feels more special than he imagined…
Yeah, it does feel special. Obviously, you know, playing both sides of the rink is something that I take a lot of pride in. That’s the way I learned to play hockey, and to actually win an award that’s given to the best defensive forward, or two-way forward, is something very special. But like I said, I can’t do this without my teammates and they’re the reason why I’m here. And I’m really happy that my name is going on this trophy.

On sharing this with family and friends…
It’s very important to me, you know, they’re the reason – they always helped me and supported me, they’ve always been there for me through the ups and downs and growing up and everything. So friends and family – I’m very close to them.

On the other names on the trophy…
Well, I’m just looking right here and it’s only one side of it, and it’s [Rod] Brind’Amour, [Pavel] Datsyuk, [Jere] Lehtinen, all guys that I’ve – well Pavel’s still in the league and he’s great – but all guys that I watched on TV, and [Sergei] Fedorov. You know, it’s pretty impressive and also very humbling, like I said. It’s an honor and, you know, I’m very happy.
