BOSTON - Ultimately, it's the Bruins and Avalanche that will be going head to head on Wednesday night in Denver. But inside of that matchup will be a smaller, highly intriguing clash.
When the teams meet at Pepsi Center, it will pit what many believe are the National Hockey League's two best lines against each other: Boston's dynamic trio of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak vs. Colorado's explosive triumvirate of Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, and Mikko Rantanen.

"You can tell they have a lot of talent, a lot of skills, a lot of chemistry. I think we also have that chemistry going on," said Bergeron, who has 9 goals and 16 assists through 17 games.
Marchand, Bergeron, and Pastrnak have combined for 31 goals and 68 points this season, while Landeskog, MacKinnon, and Rantanen have compiled 28 goals and 69 points. The NHL's four leading scorers this season come from that group, while all six rank in the top 20.
1. Mikko Rantanen (26 points)
2. Patrice Bergeron (25 points)
3. Nathan MacKinnon (24 points)
4. David Pastrnak (23 points)
14. Brad Marchand (20 points)
20. Gabriel Landeskog (19 points)
Pastrnak, meanwhile, paces the NHL with 16 goals, with Landeskog and MacKinnon - last season's runner-up for the Hart Trophy - tied for sixth in the league with 11 goals apiece.
"It's hard to pick between the two lines in terms of who's better, what would you prefer," said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy, who joined Colorado bench boss Jared Bednar as a coach of the year finalist last season. "I know from my point of view, I love our top line. They've done everything we've asked. I'm sure Jared would say the same about his line].

Dinged Up Defense

The Bruins' back end remains a bit banged up. Boston's entire right side from Opening Night is now sidelined, with Brandon Carlo out with an upper-body injury. He joins Charlie McAvoy (concussion) and Kevan Miller (hand) on the shelf.
Carlo was injured in the Bruins' win over Vegas on Sunday night and did not travel with the team to Denver on Tuesday afternoon. Miller, meanwhile, did make the trip, but will not play before next Wednesday in Detroit, according to Cassidy.
McAvoy skated with Miller before practice, while Urho Vaakanainen (concussion) joined the full session donning a red non-contact jersey. Neither traveled with the team, but - along with Carlo - could rejoin the group later in the trip.

Zboril Recalled

With a four-game, nine-day trip on the docket and just six healthy defensemen on the roster, the Bruins recalled young blue liner Jakub Zboril from Providence. Cassidy said he expects to go with the same pairings (Zdeno Chara-Matt Grzelcyk; Torey Krug-John Moore; Jeremy Lauzon-Steven Kampfer) as he did on Sunday night, but did not rule out Zboril playing at some point during the road trip.
"He moves the puck well," said Cassidy. "He's like a lot of young guys, he's had good games and games where he needs to be better. We brought him up because Carlo will miss at least Wednesday. On the trip, we want to make sure we're covered in case there's a sickness or an injury and the rest of the guys can't go on the weekend. So he'll travel with us."
It is the first recall for Zboril, who was drafted by the Bruins with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The 21-year-old Czech native has played 81 games for Providence over the last two seasons, notching 6 goals and 17 assists to go along with a plus-8 rating.
"It just feels incredible, just being here, being part of this organization, finally getting called up," said Zboril. "It's a dream come true. Now just keep going at it and try to get that chance to play in a game."
Zboril has two goals and two assists in 13 games for the P-Bruins so far this season and said he is starting to find a groove after a shaky start to the year.
"My game felt pretty good," said the 6-foot, 200-pound left shot. "Didn't start off real well at the beginning of the season, wasn't really happy, coaches weren't happy, sat me down for a game…cleared my head and started playing a little different game with more pace, more urgency in my game."
With Tuukka Rask returning from his leave of absence on Tuesday, Daniel Vladar was assigned to Providence. It was also announced that Jeremy Lauzon and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson will remain with the team on regular recall.
