Time to Work

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
3:48 p.m.

"We found an apartment," said Steve Begin this morning, when asked if he and his family were settled in to the Hub of Hockey. "My wife and two kids are here, so that's why we drove in [early] to get to know the city.

"With kids it's always tougher to get into a new town. My oldest is going to turn five and my youngest just turned two in may.

"It's fun for them."

It's not always that fun for adults to change jobs and cities, but Begin seems to be doing just fine -- except directionally.

"When you go to a new team everything's different," said Begin. "And I knew a few guys here, but I wanted to get to know the whole team...and you want to know the area, too."

And Boston is known for the easy layout of its roads and highways. Right?

"I was following someone to get here [to Wilmington], but I don't know how I am going to get back home, today!" said Steve. "I might not be here tomorrow!"

12.29 p.m.
Practice is over. I'm going to try and talk to Mr. Begin.

11:52 a.m.
Johnny Boychuk has the first goal -- a breakaway goal vs. Rask. Begin scored on a snap shot shortly thereafter.

11:47 a.m.
A quick head count sees Bitz, Begin, Wideman, Lucic, Marchand, Rask, Boychuk, Dalton, Courchaine, Marquardt and Bodnarchuk.

It looks like they might do a 3/4 ice scrimmage.

Andrew Ference has hair!

11:36 a.m.
Dennis Wideman was the first guy on. Steve Begin was the second. Byron Bitz was third.

After several years of watching Begin drive Boston Bruins players a little nuts, it's good to see him in Black & Gold.

11:26 a.m.
The ice is getting cleared for the regular "informal" practice. It's expected that quite a few Boston Bruins players will be attending, including, perhaps, the first appearance of Steve Begin.

10:27 a.m.

Brad Marchand and Matt Marquardt are just two of the forwards who are providing the opposition for the Bruins goalies during Bob Essensa's goalie camp this morning.

Marco Sturm and David Krejci are also in the mix.
