Just checked in with the B’s in Chicago.
As you’ve read elsewhere, the Bruins will start Tim Thomas
in goal tonight and Hannu Toivonen will take his place between the pipes tomorrow.
Thomas is 4-1-1 in his last six starts with a 5-3 win vs. New Jersey on Dec. 14, a 6-3 loss to Florida on Dec. 16; a 7-2 victory in Ottawa on Dec. 19; his second career shutout in a 2-0 win vs. Vancouver on Dec. 21; a 4-2 win vs. Montreal on Dec. 23; and a 5-4 overtime loss in Columbus on Dec. 26.
Tank Top Is 9-3-1 in his last 13 starts and is 16-6-2 in his last 24 decisions.
Timmy dressed as backup Dec. 12 in Montreal, snapping his career-best consecutive games played stretch at 21. His previous career-high in that category was 18 games from Jan. 10-Mar. 1, 2006.
Thomas recorded his second career shutout with a 2-0 win vs. Vancouver on Dec. 21 (39 saves).
Tim has been recognized twice this year for his outstanding play. He was the NHL’s Number Three Star for the week of Nov. 12-18 with a 3-0-0 record and 1.60 GAA in three games. AND he was the NHL’s Number One Star for the week of Dec. 18-24 with a 3-0-0 record and 1.33 GAA in three games.
Word is that everyone on the squad is healthy, despite a bunch of guys with facial stitches -- including Glen Murray, Andrew Alberts and Zdeno Chara
Even P.J. Axelsson is feeling better and is finally out of his walking boot.
The lineup is expected to be the same as last game. Assuming the lineup does stay the same, Yan Stastny will be the healthy scratch.
The guys are back on NESN and WBZ this evening at 8:30.
