BOSTON, MA - Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas
was named NHL's Second Star of the Week for the week ending March 2.
Thomas stopped 75 of 78 shots and went 3-0-0 in victories over Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Atlanta last week. He recorded his second shutout of the season after making 22 saves in a 4-0 win over Ottawa on February 26 and followed that with a 27-save effort in a 5-1 win against Pittsburgh on February 28. Thomas wrapped up the week by making 26 stops in a 3-2 shootout win over the Atlanta Thrashers on March 1.
He has posted a 23-14-4 record, 2.36 goals against average, and a .925 save percentage in 45 games this season and was named to his first career NHL All-Star game in January.
Thomas and the Bruins face the Washington Capitals tonight in Washington, DC at 7:00 p.m. ET (TV: VERSUS, RADIO: WBZ 1030 AM).
