Third Annual PJ Drive Kicks Off Today

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA - On Monday, January 11, Boston Bruin Dennis Wideman will be visiting the BJ's Wholesale Club in Stoneham (85 Cedar St., Stoneham, MA 02180) from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. for a meet-and-greet to benefit the PJ Drive. Wideman, Boston Bruins defensemen, will be signing autographs and taking photos with everyone that donates a new, unused pair of pajamas to the PJ Drive.

The Boston Bruins, Cradles to Crayons, and BJ's Wholesale Club teamed up for the Third Annual PJ Drive to benefit Massachusetts' children in need. The drive officially kicks off Monday, January 11th.  Throughout the month of January, fans, families, schools and corporations are encouraged to make donations to help underprivileged children statewide.

In addition, the Boston Bruins will have an in-game pajama collection on January 18 at the Bruins home game against the Ottawa Senators. Fans participating in the PJ Drive on the 18th will receive a raffle ticket for each pair of pajamas donated and get the chance to win Boston Bruins team autographed memorabilia.

There are a number of ways to get involved with the 2010 PJ Drive:

School Participation:
This year schools statewide are invited to participate in the collections. All grade levels K-5 are welcome to sign-up. The class that collects the most pajamas wins an in-school ice cream party and visit with the Bruins mascot, Blades, compliments of BJ’s Wholesale Club. All of the registration information can be found here.

BJ's Wholesale in-Club Collection:
BJ’s members can purchase and donate new pajamas at any of the 20 BJ’s Massachusetts locations. Each club will have collection bins set up for the donations. To find a club click here.

Former Bruin PJ Axelsson and his wife, Siw, started P.J.'s Pajama Drive during the 2007-08 season as a way of giving back to their community.
