THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…

LAST STOP: The Bruins finish their six-game road trip Saturday evening in Dallas against the Stars. After a 2-0 loss to Nashville Thursday night, the team is 3-2 on this road stretch. The Bruins’ 19-7-3 road record is ranked third in the NHL and second in the Eastern Conference.

STAT OF THE WEEK: The Bruins are one of two teams (CHI) to have three 20-goal scorers this season – Brad Marchand (28), Patrice Bergeron (22) and Loui Eriksson (20). Chicago’s Patrick Kane (34), Artemi Panarin (22) and Jonathan Toews (21) have also reached the 20-goal mark. This is the fifth 20-goal season for Marchand, the seventh for Bergeron and the sixth for Eriksson. Eriksson recorded his 20th goal of the season at Columbus on Feb. 16 in his 700th career game.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Boston’s power play is ranked fifth in the NHL, going 36-for-167 (21.6%). The Bruins’ penalty kill has also improved to 83.4%, good for sixth best in the league. Currently, the Bruins are ranked first in the NHL in shorthanded goals against with only one in 58 games. They are ranked third in shorthanded goals for with eight in 58 games.

BOSTON BRUINS TO HOST FIRST RESPONDER NIGHT: On Monday, February 22 as the Bruins take on the Blue Jackets, the Boston Bruins will show their appreciation for the men and women who serve as First Responders and their families. The First Responders and families in attendance will be honored throughout the game with a photo montage on the Garden HDX, Zamboni rides, high-fiving Bruins players before they take the ice and more. The National Anthem will be performed by the Boston Fire Department Acappella Quartet. Sergeant Richard “Dic” Donohue, who was wounded on-duty in April 2013 while pursuing the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, will perform the dropping of the ceremonial first puck. Other local first responders who have been recognized for their outstanding service will be honored throughout the evening. Ticket donations are now being accepted to give local First Responders and their families a chance to attend the game. You can also submit a photo of First Responders showing off their Bruins pride for their chance to be shown in-game on February 22. BOSTON BRUINS FASHION POWER PLAY: On Tuesday, February 23, join the Boston Bruins Foundation at the 2nd Annual Fashion Power Play, a special evening of fashion fueled fundraising. Wives and girlfriends of current Boston Bruins players, as well as professional models, will model spring fashions from Neiman Marcus. Attendees will be able to enjoy complimentary cocktails and culinary delights from some of Boston's best restaurants, as well as a silent auction featuring exclusive Bruins memorabilia. Jenny Johnson, host of NESN’s “Dining Playbook,” will serve as emcee for the evening. All proceeds to benefit The Boston Bruins Foundation and the Friends of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. GIRLS LOVE HOCKEY CLINIC PRESENTED BY ALEX AND ANI: The Boston Bruins and ALEX AND ANI have randomly selected over 40 female youth hockey players from across New England to participate in the ALEX AND ANI Girls Love Hockey Clinic on February 23 to celebrate girls playing hockey and encourage future female participation in hockey. The girls selected will participate in an hour-long clinic from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. led by members of the Boston Bruins organization, Boston Pride, and Boston Blades. BRUINS ACADEMY: Catch up on all three episodes of Bruins Academy! The series is a fast-paced, educational, Black & Gold-themed program created for youth who love the game of hockey. In the latest episode, Patrice Bergeron checks in from Nashville, Tuukka Rask answers questions from young fans and the Bruins medical staff takes you inside the training room to see how they treat a significant injury like the one to Chris Kelly. One 30-minute episode will air per month on NESN, and the first three episodes can be viewed on www.BostonBruins.com and on the Bruins mobile app.

UPCOMING BRUINS ALUMNI GAMES: On Saturday, February 20 the Bruins Alumni will face off against the Marlboro Eagles in a benefit game for Marlboro PreK-4 Autism Awareness. And On Sunday, February 21 the Bruins Alumni will take the ice against Boston Strong in a benefit game for the NHL Pro-Am for Children’s Hospital. UPCOMING BRUINS PJ DRIVE EVENTS: Join Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins as they team up with Freihofer’s and Cradles to Crayons throughout the month of February to present the ninth Annual “PJ Drive” to benefit Massachusetts’ underprivileged youth. The PJ Drive provides new, unused pajamas to children in need across Massachusetts. Over 75,000 Massachusetts children have received PJ’s through the Bruins PJ drive over the past eight years. HOCKEY WEEKEND ACROSS AMERICA: On Saturday, February 20, USA Hockey and over 300 local associations across the country will host Try Hockey For Free Day. Participating locations encourage kids, ages four to nine, to come try youth hockey as part of the 9th annual Hockey Weekend Across America. BOSTON BRUINS TO VISIT MADELINE ENGLISH SCHOOL: Boston Bruins Mascot Blades and Bruins Ice Girls will visit the Madeline English School in Everett, MA on Friday, February 26 to take part in “Read Across America”. Blades will be on hand for photos while the Bruins Ice Girls read a Dr. Seuss book to the students. For more information, please visit the “Off the Ice & Around Town” section in the Week Ahead.

BOSTON BRUINS STREET HOCKEY CLINIC: The Boston Bruins youth hockey development team will visit the Hanscom Primary School in Hanscom, MA on Thursday, February 25 to host a street hockey clinic and donate new street hockey equipment. The students will have the opportunity to develop their passing, stickhandling, and shooting skills before scrimmaging to cap off the clinic. CASINO NIGHT: Want to hit the blackjack tables with Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and your other favorite Bruins players? TOM CARON TO FILL IN AS RINKSIDE REPORTER VS. DALLAS: After spending the week in Fort Myers, Florida hosting Red Sox from Fort Myers, NESN’s daily training camp specials, Tom Caron will fly to Dallas to fill in for NESN’s primary Bruins rinkside reporter Sarah Davis, who is taking some planned time off this weekend. Caron will return to Fort Myers on Sunday for another week of Red Sox from Fort Myers.

UPCOMING GAMES BROADCAST SCHEDULE: NESN reporters Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Sarah Davis will be covering the Bruins’ upcoming matchups against the Columbus Blue Jackets on February 22 and the Carolina Hurricanes on February 26. WHAT: In support of the 9th Annual PJ Drive, the Boston Bruins will visit Norfolk Public Library in Norfolk, MA on Saturday, February 20.  Blades and Ice Girls will be on hand for a special story time and will participate in a craft activity following the story.  Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas and will be able to have their photo taken with Blades.  For every donation of new, unused pajamas or $10, fans will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing for Bruins autographed memorabilia.

BOSTON BRUINS FOUNDATION CASINO NIGHT

WHAT: The Boston Bruins Foundation will host their annual Casino Night featuring the current Bruins roster and Bruins alumni on Saturday, March 12 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Westin Boston Waterfront. At “Casino Night” fans will have the opportunity to play at casino tables alongside their favorite current and former Bruins players. Tickets can be purchased by visiting: bostonbruins.com/casinonight. Ticket costs include $1,000 worth of chips for casino games, but do not hold any cash value. The event will include both a silent and a live auction including event tickets, gift certificates and more. Must be 21 years of age or older to attend. General Admission - 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.: General Admission tickets are $250 and include access to the event, food and wine, and the opportunity to play casino games such as poker, blackjack and roulette alongside their favorite current and former Bruins players.
