BRUINS ACADEMY AIRS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20: The premiere episode of “Bruins Academy” is set to air this Sunday, December 30 at 3:30 p.m. on NESN. The series is a fast-paced, educational Black & Gold themed program created for youth who love the game of hockey. One 30-minute long episode of Bruins Academy will air per month on NESN. All episodes will be hosted by Emmy award-winning sports personality Charlie Moore and feature BostonBruins.com reporter Caryn Switaj. The air dates and times on NESN for the remaining episodes will be confirmed as the season progresses. Other exclusive “Bruins Academy” related content will be available on BostonBruins.com throughout the season.

LASTING LEGACY: On Thursday, December 17 the NHL, Boston Bruins and Mayor Marty Walsh unveiled the Bryan McGonagle Rink in Charlestown, MA. The rink was funded in part by the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Legacy Initiative. The installation will be a lasting legacy of the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, which is set to take place on January 1, 2016 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.  

TIRELESS TUUKKA: Tuukka Rask extended his point streak to nine games (7-0-2) with Wednesday’s 3-0 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has a 1.36 GAA, .955 save percentage and three shutouts in that span. Wednesday night’s win was his fourth shutout of the season and the 30th of his NHL career.

POWER PLAY POWERS ON: The Bruins power play continues to lead the NHL. The team is 25 for 85 (29.4%), with the next highest percentage being 22.9% (WSH).

BERGERON’S STREAKING: Patrice Bergeron has 1-6=7 totals in the last six games. This is his third streak this season of five or more games. So far this season, Bergeron has 9-21=30 totals in 30 games played.

B’S HEATING UP: The Bruins are 9-1-3 in their last 13 games and have a 10-2-2 record on the road. Their home record is first in the Eastern Conference and tied for fourth in the NHL overall.

BRUINS OWNER JEREMY JACOBS RECEIVES 2015 LESTER PATRICK TROPHY: Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs was the recipient of the 2015 Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to hockey in the United State, he was honored at the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 17 in Boston. The award, one of the most prestigious in hockey, was presented to the National Hockey League by the New York Rangers in 1966. It honors the memory of Lester Patrick, who spent 50 years in hockey as a player, coach and general manager and was a pioneer in the sport’s development. Owner of the Bruins for 41 years and chairman of Delaware North – one of the world’s leading hospitality and food service companies – for more than 40 years, Jacobs has served as Chairman of the NHL’s Board of Governors since 2007 and also sits on the League’s Executive Committee. A 2006 inductee into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, Jacobs and his family also have owned minor league baseball and hockey teams. Jacobs has worked extensively in numerous charitable endeavors and was honored with the St. Jude Award for Inspiration in Sports at the 2013 Global Sports Summit. He also has been a leading advocate for U.S. tourism, serving several terms on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board upon appointment by the Secretary of Commerce and the White House. A graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Management and Harvard University’s School of Business Advanced Management Program, Jacobs also holds honorary doctorates from the University at Buffalo, Canisius College, and Johnson & Wales University.

EPIX PRESENTS ROAD TO THE NHL WINTER CLASSIC: EPIX Presents Road To the NHL Winter Classic™ has returned to the channel and made its U.S. television premiere on Wednesday, December 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, 9C. The weekly series, consisting of four one-hour episodes, focuses on the heated rivalry between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens as they prepare for the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. on New Year’s Day 2016. This will be the second year that EPIX and the NHL® team up for this all-access look inside the lives of these elite professional athletes, their families and their fans. In addition, U.S. hockey fans will be able to stream each episode of EPIX Presents Road To the NHL Winter Classic live as it premieres on EPIX via EPIX.com and NHL.com. BRUINS ALUM BOB SWEENEY TO VISIT LOCAL MIDDLE SCHOOL: On Monday, December 21 Bruins Alum Bob Sweeney will visit the Doherty Middle School in Andover, MA to launch the new Future Goals – Hockey Scholar program in partnership with the National Hockey League. Future Goals – Hockey Scholar is an online learning course that brings science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts to life through the exciting, fast-paced game of hockey. Sweeney will participate in a lesson plan and will answer questions from the students, connecting what they are learning to playing the game of hockey. BRUINS ALUMNI GAME: The Boston Bruins Alumni will be visiting the Rinks at Exeter located at 40 Industrial Dr. #1, in Exeter, NH this weekend. Members of the Boston Bruins Alumni team will take the ice against Team Richie for the benefit of the Richie McFarland Children’s Fund on Saturday, December 19 at 1:30 p.m. Many former Bruins players will be skating, including Reggie Lemelin, Ken Linseman and Rick Middleton. B’S ALUM TO HOST 2nd ANNUAL HOLIDAY SKATE FOR BOSTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: On Wednesday, December 23 the Boston Bruins will host their second annual Holiday Skate to Benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. Enjoy food, raffle prizes and skating with Bruins alum Rick Middleton. The skate takes place at Pingree Rink in Hamilton, MA. The event is free, but donations of $10 are encouraged. MBTA ANNOUNCES TRAIN TO GILLETTE STADIUM FOR WINTER CLASSIC: On Friday, January 1, 2016 the MBTA, in cooperation with Keolis Commuter Service and the Bruins, will be offering special passenger service to Gillette Stadium for the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic game between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens. There will be two trains operating to the event, one originating from South Station in Boston (10:15 a.m.) and one originating from T.F. Green in Providence (10:00 a.m.). Trains will depart from Gillette Stadium 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game. Tickets will be available at North Station, South Station and Back Bay Station. Tickets will also be available for purchase via M-Ticket. A limited number of tickets may be available on the day of the event, prior to departure. Fares will be $15 per ticket. TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION DRIVE: The Boston Bruins will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the US Marine Corps.’ “Toys for Tots” program during Bruins home games leading up to Christmas from December 7 to December 22. Each of the collections will be held at TD Garden entrance turnstiles and at Community Corner, located in Loge 4. For every $10 donation or toy donation, fans will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing for Bruins-autographed memorabilia, including a team-autographed stick, player-autographed photo and player-autographed puck. BOSTON BRUINS 8TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY AT&T: The Boston Bruins will host their 8th Annual Holiday Tournament presented by AT&T from December 27-30 at the Haverhill Valley Forum in Haverhill, MA. The round robin format tournament will feature six divisions with a maximum of six teams per division. Each team will participate in a minimum of three games over a four-day period. New this year, AT&T and the Boston Bruins will be awarding all division finalists with a Boston Bruins prize pack, which will include complimentary tickets to the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic and more. All participants will receive a Boston Bruins gift bag and tournament T-shirt. Special guest appearances will be made during the tournament, including Bruins mascot Blades and Bruins alumni. WINTER CLASSIC RAFFLE: The Boston Bruins Foundation has launched the ultimate Boston Bruins Winter Classic Raffle for your chance to see the Boston Bruins head back outdoors for the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium.
