The Boston Bruins Week Ahead: 10/30 - 11/6

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins

October 30 – November 6

TUUKKA TIME: Goaltender Tuukka Rask recorded his first shutout of the season on October 27 vs. Arizona marking the 27th shutout of his career. That milestone shutout ties him with Ed Johnston for fourth place on the club’s all-time shutout list.

YOU DRIVE ME KREJCI: David Krejci had two goals on October 27 vs. the Coyotes which extended his point streak to eight games with 7-7=14 totals in that span. That is the longest point streak by a Bruin to open a season since both Joe Juneau (7-15=22 totals) and Dmitri Kvartalnov (12-10=22 totals) had points in their first 14 games of the 1992-93 campaign.

TWO GOAL LEADS: Boston’s 6-0 win against the Coyotes on October 27 marked the sixth straight game that the Bruins have held a two-or-more goal lead in a game and now have a 4-1-1 record in those games.  The Bruins are 161-10-8 since the start of the 2010-11 season in games in which they have held a two-goal lead in a game and that extends to 99-1-2 when they have led by three-or-more goals in a game.

CHARA HITS MILESTONE: Captain Zdeno Chara appeared in his 1,200th NHL game on October 23 against the New York Islanders, the same team that drafted him in the third round (56th overall) of 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

ON THE OFFENSIVE: Entering the weekend the Boston Bruins lead the NHL in power play percentage, executing at a 32.1% clip (9-for-28) on the man advantage.  The Bruins also lead the league in goals per game, scoring 4.12 goals per game, scoring 33 goals (tied for fourth in the league) in eight games.

BRUINS AND TD BANK HOST MOVEMBER NIGHT ON 11/3 VS DALLAS: All fans in attendance at TD Garden on November 3, when the Bruins take on the Dallas Stars, will receive a stick-on moustache to kick off Movember to help raise awareness for men’s health.  For each selfie taken with the moustache using hashtag #BruinsMO TD Bank will donate $1 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Boston Bruins Foundation will match the total donation amount.

#MYBRUINSHALLOWEEN: Share your Black & Gold spirit this Halloween using #MyBruinsHalloween. The best B’s costume, decorations, or jack-o’-lanterns will win tickets to see the Bruins vs. Stars this Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00 PM at TD Garden. The contest ends on 11/2.

#PUCKSANDPUPS: Use the hashtag #PucksAndPups to share a photo of your four-legged friend in B’s gear on Twitter or Instagram for your dog’s chance to be featured in the 2016 Pucks & Pups Calendar presented by The Black Dog. The contest ends on 11/6.
