BostonBruins.com -The hockey community, and the world, lost one of its finest inspirations on Thursday with the passing of Travis Roy at the age of 45. The former Boston University hockey player was paralyzed just 11 seconds into his first collegiate shift in 1995. Despite such a tragic and life altering setback, Roy became a symbol of hope and determination across New England thanks to his tireless work as an advocate for spinal cord research through the Travis Roy Foundation, as well as his impactful work as a motivational speaker.
Bruins management was among those to offer their condolences on Thursday evening.
