More news from MTL
Dave Stubbs from the Montreal Gazette's blog, HabsInsideOut.com, writes that Andrei Markov was not on the ice (that he saw). He adds: Quiet day in Brossard today, no changes in jerseys this morning at practice. But there was plenty of communication on ice, Bob Gainey holding a couple of group and individual meetings. In one group gathering, Gainey and Alex Tanguay had a lengthy discussion, everyone else listening in, and the two soon were at the side of the rink as practice resumed, reviewing things on a diagram board.Gainey did not meet the media today, but will tomorrow before the team boards its charter to Boston in advance of Thursday's Game 1.
A busy locker room...
There were lots of interviews going on post practice and I caught snippets of a few.
"It's a long season and I think we've done a lot of good things this year," said Michael Ryder when asked about his first season with Boston. "[But we have to] turn the page and keep it going and we have make sure [we're ready] for the playoffs.
"It's definitely going to be a little different being on the other side. [Even though] i haven't been there for a year, now, we played last year against Boston and this year I am with Boston.
"I'll be playing against a few friends and although I am kind of used to it during the season but during the playoff time I guess you don't have many friends -- you just go out and play -- and I think it is going to be a good series and a lot of fun."
Recchi and Kessel collide. Mark fakes like he is running after Phil in order to clobber him. Laughs.
TSN.ca is keeping tabs on the Habs practice:
Stewart, O'Byrne, Brisebois, S. Kostitsyn (upper body injury)

A nice note...
NESN reports that their 2.5 household average in the Boston market marks a 69% increase over last season and matches the 1995/96 season for the best full season rating average in network history. Thank you New England!
The media is trickling into the building as the Boston Bruins are set to begin the 2009 Playoff portion of their practices at 11:00 a.m.
We expect to learn at least a little bit about Andrew Ference
and Patrice Bergeron
this morning and everyone else is expected to make an on-ice appearance.
