Hey B's fans I'm back! Here's a lil' update about Wednesday night. It's been just over three and a half months, but it feels great to back in the game.
It was a long and frustrating road back at times, but it felt excellent to take the ice. My adrenaline was definitely going and I was really excited to be back, so it took a couple shifts for me to settle in and feel comfortable out there.
As a team we had a great first period and spent most of the time in the Devils offensive zone, which made it much easier on me to adjust to the speed of the game.
I was paired with Shane Hnidy and he made it easy for me with lots of talk between us and quick breakout passes to get out of our zone. After the first, I felt much more comfortable and I think I did a fairly decent job of getting back to my game. Throughout the rest of the game I think Hnides and I worked well together, made some good plays and just played well defensively.
After the game I felt good physically, and my head is still OK. So, now I'm looking forward to Friday night versus Ottawa.
As most of you know we lost a tough one to NJ in a sudden death shootout. But with that shootout loss we still gained one point, which puts us right in the playoff mix and in seventh place currently. And, as of Friday afternoon, we need three points to lock in a playoff spot on our own
We control our own destiny, so all we have to do is WIN and we are IN!
Friday night is a big game for everybody. We haven't been in the playoffs for a few years here in Boston, so if we win tonight we'll be that much closer. It would be a huge victory for everyone!
In the locker room, we've gotten into the mentality of leaving everything on the ice and worrying about tomorrow, tomorrow. So I think the goal is to get two points and take another step towards the playoffs.
Wish us the best and I hope to see you all on Saturday night in Boston versus Buffalo!
