Last Monday a couple buddies and I trekked down to the local cinema to catch the new movie "The Brave One." I put together a quick little list of the movie info below. A.A.
Movie: The Brave One Starring: Jodie Foster, Terrence Howard, Nicky Katt, Naveen Andrews Directed By: Neil Jordan Released By: Warner Bros. Release Date: 09/14/2007 Run Time: 122 min. Genre: Drama, Crime and Mystery, New Release Rating: R - Definitely not a kids' movie folks
The Plot: Foster plays a soon to be married, local radio voice based in New York City, whose life takes a turn for the worse after a gruesome assault leaves her fighting for life and her fiancée dead.
After a very long recovery, and no leads to go on in her assault case, she continues to live her life, albeit in a state of chaos and terror. However, while living in this state of fear, she begins to take a different outlook on fear and those people who commit crimes.
Foster's character decides to take the law into her own hands using her own brand of vigilante justice.
Her own "crimes" are soon noticed, not only by other citizens, but by law enforcement and an unexpected bond is soon in place between her and a detective. That bond results in a twisted and exciting ending.
My take: I personally thought this was a very entertaining movie. It starts off kind of slow but if you just stay patient there is plenty of action, head games, and twists to keep you wanting more.
If you like mystery and crime dramas you'll enjoy this one!
Restaurant Review… While I'm at it, I thought I might recommend a restaurant -- here or there -- for anyone looking for a good place to go grab a nice dinner. A.A.
This week I'm throwing some ink down for Mother Anna's on Hanover Street in the North End.
The restaurant offers both inside and outside seating. About a week ago I was able to grab a seat out on the patio and had a great time. Obviously, the outside seating is seasonal, but you get a great view of the city from any seat and the atmosphere was outstanding.
As for the menu: There was large list of appetizers and I had the chance to enjoy the tasty calamari as well as the fried raviolis. Both were delicious!
After the apps, I enjoyed the strawberry vinaigrette salad, which was also very good.
Finally, for the main course I ordered the chicken parm, which was more than even I could handle. In fact, everyone's meal portions at the table were huge and more than enough to satisfy any appetite.
With the large portions and all the apps, we were all unable to tackle a desert, so we finished up our drinks and headed out.
My take: I would give this restaurant **** out of a possible 5. That's pretty great, so go check it out!
